The people of earth have finally got rid of all those horrible trees! The last remaining forests are sent into space on these massive spaceships with long corridors. The corridors are really perfect for these little buggies To drive. The decommissioned Aircraft Carrier Valley Forge (CV-45) was used for the set. The buggies were made just for the movie and torn apart after filming. Which is the real travesty.
Oh yeah - Space command tells them to blow up all the forests. That's the story, which no one really cares about just the buggies. Everybody wanted one. Oh, and the Drones - The robots that did all the work - so high tech for 1972. Actually not High tech - they put amputees inside plastic boxes and they walked on their hands.
But one of the coolest movies to inspire little dude to dream about space travel and drones and little buggies that could haul ass on a giant spaceship.
